The Lone Cypress, Pebble Beach, California

The Lone Cypress – symbol of Pebble Beach and the 17-Mile-Drive in California. It has become known all over the world partly as a tourist attraction, partly because of the nearby golf course. It is also the highlight of the 17-Mile-Drive, a gated road that you can only drive after paying a fee.

The tree has also become a symbol for the northern California coast and Highway 1. The cypress tree and the rugged rocks this tree sits on are typical for this stretch of the California coastline.
