Rideau Canal, Downtown Ottawa

This picture was taken from MacKenzie King Bridge in Ottawa. I absolutely love this view. Whether you are here during the day or at night, whether it’s summer or winter, you can never go wrong.

What I appreciate the most are how the Parliament and Chateau Laurier overlook the canal and give the shot a natural frame. Add to this the small boats anchored at the side or slowly drifting by and you got a pretty nice picture.

During the winter time you get a completely different view as the canal is turned into a great ice skating rink. That gives you the opportunity to take pictures of skaters, hockey players, or other interesting folk enjoying the ice.

Next time you’re in Ottawa, try to make time and stop on MacKenzie Bridge. I really think it’s worth it.
